Clinical Psychologist
To join another individual on their journey has always felt like a privilege to me. Over 15 years of clinical practice, largely in the GCC, I have developed a compassionate and culturally aware approach to therapy. I am trained in a number of psychological modalities; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Schema Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). This facilitates a person-centred and dynamic approach to therapy, that accounts for the individual needs of the client and the journey they are on.
I was born and raised in the UK, spending the majority of my life in Scotland where nature and the outdoors were a huge influence on me. I have travelled extensively and love experiencing other cultures and countries. I have always been curious about people and never happier than when I am surrounded by friends and family. In fact, I may be the only person you know who likes it when their flight is delayed, as it means more time to people watch! I am a Mum to three beautiful boys biologically and one equally beautiful stepson. Becoming a Mum brought a new dimension to my clinical practice and fuelled a passion for all things pregnancy, post-partum, and infancy.
A large proportion of my practice is now focussed on supporting clients in pregnancy and during the postnatal period. This includes pre- and post-natal mood disorders, traumatic birth, fertility and IVF, infant loss, concerns around bonding and specific phobias. I also see many other psychological presentations and welcome clients of both gender from 16+. This is generally on a one-to-one basis, but I also run groups including Mellow Bumps which is an evidence-based programme developed in the UK to support women during their pregnancy. I offer supervision for other psychologists and enjoy working collaboratively with colleagues from other disciplines. I believe this is a rich opportunity for knowledge sharing and learning and enjoy providing consultation and training opportunities to colleagues in psychology and beyond.
When I am not working, you will usually find me with my children. But I also love spending time with friends, working out (preferably with friends!), horse riding, food (lots of food!) and reading a good book in hammock.

The evolution of maternal and infant mental health in the UAE: From practice to policy.
The evolution of maternal and infant mental health in the UAE; From practice to policy.
Until relatively recently, the number of practitioners in the UAE trained in maternal and infant mental health interventions and specifically focussing their practice in this area, was limited. Over the past few years, and with the emergence of government level policies relating to and recognising the importance of maternal and infant mental, services and the availability of support has grown and evolved.
Join us in a panel discussion about the current provisions and developments in the UAE. In addition, we will explore the panellists’ experiences of working in the field of maternal and infant mental health in the UAE. And their observations of what is required at both policy and practice levels to meet the needs of the growing population as well as best practice in the field.
